The Muscle System Pro III is an impressive learning and reference tool that has been developed in collaboration with Stanford University School of Medicine and was featured in the WWDC 2012 Keynote Speech.
Widely used by universities, this app has become the standard for students and medical professionals.
With its extensive features, this app offers a comprehensive musculoskeletal system experience. It includes 215 movement animations, 425 audio pronunciations, and detailed maps of 548 isolated muscles and their insertion and origin points on the bone.
One of the standout features of this app is the ability to rotate any body part 360 degrees horizontally with a simple swipe of your finger. You can also rotate vertically to view inferior and superior perspectives when appropriate.
The app provides a remarkable level of detail with 10 layers of superficial and deep muscles. It also features a new 3D level that maps insertion and origin points onto the bone for easy reference.
The extensive library of 215 animations covers every movement of each articulation, including flexion, extension, abduction, adduction, and more.
For those looking to test their knowledge, there are two types of quizzes available: Drag and Drop and Multi-choice. You can focus on specific areas or muscles during the quiz.
In addition to these impressive features, the app includes 425 audio pronunciations for every label. It also allows you to draw on any screen image and share it through email, Facebook, or Twitter.
The latest version of the app introduces several new features. Graphical hints provide on-screen guidance, making it easier to navigate through all the app's functions. The user interface has been completely rebuilt for simple navigation. You can now mix layers to compare different anatomical structures by making one layer semitransparent. The app also allows you to post and browse through shared public notes.
Other notable features include the ability to zoom in by double-tapping on a specific region or muscle, customizing pins and adding personal notes, and jumping to different areas of the body using the thumbnail navigation.
While primarily designed as a learning tool, this app can also serve as a fast and innovative reference tool. The index function allows users to select a muscle, and the app will automatically zoom in and identify it. This makes it particularly useful for physicians, educators, and professionals in explaining the relevance of a muscle for certain conditions, ailments, and injuries.
